    1999 Caravelle VDO Speedometer

I have the Volvo 5.0. I’ll check the back of the motor. There is no pickup foot for a pitot but it may be on the foot. On another subject, The transducer on the back is broken at the hinge. Is there a replacement transducer for these?

    1999 Caravelle VDO Speedometer

Hello all I have a 99 Caravelle Interceptor and the speedometer isn’t working. The only thing I can tell is that there is a transducer on the back of the boat. Is this relaying speed and depth or is it just depth. If just depth then what in the world is supposed to relay the speed? Anyone...

99 Caravelle Interceptor fuel sending unit size?

Hello all! I have a 99 Interceptor 212 with the 5.0 GL Volvo Penta SX out drive. I noticed a strong gas smell with a little bit of fuel in the center floor console. I’m assuming it’s a leaky sending unit gasket. The gauge doesn’t work either. My question is apparently there are multiple size...

99 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL Heating Issue

Ok, Power steering oil cooler looked clean as a whistle. I did check the hoses on both ends (left side was a *****!). After putting the hoses back right I let her run for 15 minutes and revd engine. I decided to take her out to try and replicate the heating problem from yesterday. I went...

99 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL Heating Issue

I’m in the boat now. Hoses were not reversed...figured that out quick! Gauge never got passed 3/4 however which I thought strange. Alarm did sound. Hoses stayed squishy when revd. Anyway put them back in place. Could not get it hot sitting in water. After almost 30 minutes of running it...

99 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL Heating Issue

definitely not the hoses being swapped. Got hot pretty quick but I noticed I couldn’t touch the manifolds like I could before. Also the temperature gauge didn’t get all the way in the Ted like it’s been doing before. Any ideas?

99 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL Heating Issue

OK!!! After further review, what happens if hose 9 attached to 18 (water pump?) is swapped and on the bottom instead of the top? Hose 9 goes to the thermostat. I’ve changed hose 9 to go on the top (swapped the hoses here) where the diagram shows. I’m about to take her out and see what happens.

99 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL Heating Issue

I stand corrected there is something cooling the steering. The line that comes in from the foot in the back of the motor goes into a black cylinder and then another hose from there goes to the lower unit. I’m going to start checking for debris there.

99 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL Heating Issue

Thanks for the diagram. 23 is always hotter than 7 and 8. I can put my hand in the manifolds and leave it there. 23 I can leave my hand there for a little while and the metal below the temperature sensor (which is underneath hose seven) in the block is hot to touch. I can leave my fingers...

99 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL Heating Issue

I will check that and report back. Any chance it could be a bad temperature sensor? I thought it strange to be able to cut it off then immediately start it back up and be able to run for a while..

99 Volvo Penta 5.0 GL Heating Issue

Guys I have a cooling problem. New hoses, thermostat, impeller and engine water pump last year and boat has been ran once since all of this started. Couple weeks ago after running first time which ran beautifully it got hot after about 15 minutes. Figured the thermostat got stuck and second...
