    MerCruiser 7.4L Bluewater Exhaust

So the block off plate I showed above requires a gasket on either side? I though the block was the gasket. I looked up the part number on ebay. it looks to be the same material i used on my raw cooled I/O. My elbows have 4 bolts per. I do see some stainless blockoff plates from Barr...

    MerCruiser 7.4L Bluewater Exhaust

Always good to hear from you AD. Thanks to all for the info. I am sure the elbows are shot, just hoping not to have to buy Manifolds also. I have old exhaust studs I use to support the manifolds during removal, I did an exhaust last year on out old boat's 7.4L. I would expect this gasket to...

    MerCruiser 7.4L Bluewater Exhaust

My wife and I are the new owners of a 1990 Sea Ray Sundancer 310 with a pair of 7.4L Bluewater inboards I do not have the serial #s but they are definitely 90 vintage Gen 4s. I know they need some exhaust work there is corrosion where the Manifold and elbow meet. I also know they are full...

    Mercruiser 7.4L Bluewater inboard winterization

Thanks AD that what I figured too. How have you been, the old 74L in my 250 Dancer ran great all season so I was not on here much. She just went to her new home Sunday. We are ready to start our new adventure on the 310 Dancer. I was able to bring the stainer unit home from the AC system...

    Mercruiser 7.4L Bluewater inboard winterization

Hi All, It been a while since I have been on the forum, the 7.4L/Bravo1 in our 250 Sundancer ran great all season. My wife and I decided is was time for an upgrade and we sold the 250 and purchases a 90 Sundancer 310 with twin Gen IV 7.4L inboard engine with V-drives, haven't had time yet...

    New prop recommendation

The swap back went great, gained the 3 mph at cruise speed I lost with the aluminum spare prop. All is well. Thanks again to Atlantic Propeller. I still may purchase a 4 blade 15 pitch to see if there are any gains in cruise speed. Don't care much about WOT speeds as I will almost never go...

    New prop recommendation

So I have been running with my spare aluminum prop now for the month of July all has been good. I had a new hub installed in my Mirage and I am headed now to do my 2nd in water prop swap. The prop was repaired by Atlantic Prop in Edison NJ for $100.00. Super nice guy and highly recommended...

    New prop recommendation

FYI I stated my WOT with the Mirage in my first post. Spec for my engine is 4200-4600 so at 4300 I am in the range. I will almost never run the boat at these RPMs. I could afford a few more RPMs on the top end though.

    New prop recommendation

So I am considering Solas HR Titan 4 blade or Turning Point Express Mach 4 or Mercury Mirage Plus (these are pricey) 3 blade. It is my understanding, when upgrading to a 4 blade prop the pitch should go down 2". The failed prop and aluminum spare are both 17 pitch so if I upgrade to 4 blades...

    New prop recommendation

Hi all, I usually spend my time in the boat restore and mercruiser forums, now I need some assistance here. I own a 1990 sea ray sundancer 250 powered by a 7.4L carb, bravo 1, on the 4th we went out with a full load of people and stuff for fun and fireworks. She struggled to get on plane...

Rehab SportCraft 222 1983 deep V hull cuddy walkaround

I usually just catch a BUZZ, that's about it. I am not into fishing and usually bring bad luck when I go. My friend keep promising a large Striper but few times I have gone (not this year) we catch nothing. This was last week off the coast of Belmar on my friends boat.

Rehab SportCraft 222 1983 deep V hull cuddy walkaround

Glad to see you back, Now that the boat is on the hard haven't been around much. My friend has been out off the NJ beaches and caught few large stripers. Of course if I had gone with we would have caught nothing. Boat is coming along nicely. Wiring looks great, better than some of the pros I...

    Gen VI 7.4L Valve tap

I have lived near the New Jersey shore my entire life and have only been to Long Island Once and I did not even go that far out LOL. Both the BQE and the LIE were so much fun with a manual trans pickup. Long ago I sailed from Conn to Block Island on a 37 ft. I can see the Long Island sound...

    Gen VI 7.4L Valve tap

Believe it or not I reused them during my engine replacement as they seemed good at the time. I ran them 3 season in Barnegat Bay (mostly salt) and the Toms RIver (almost fresh) where my slip is. So they don't owe me a thing. You can see the rust staining on the gasket and also the...

1987 Ski Centurion Tru Trac II - First Time Rebuild - Floor, Engine, Dash, etc.

BTW On the MerCruiser GM starter I have in my shop there are 2 small terminals on the solenoid. I am pointing to the one that activates the starter in the photo. When mounted it is the one closest to the block. Not sure how Ford starter are. If it is different forget I said anything LOL

    Gen VI 7.4L Valve tap

My friend from HS in 1983 bought a 1970 Roadrunner for $1300, it was a solid car but no motor no trans. That friend and I have not spoken in 10 yrs for reasons only he knows but from what other friends have told me he still has it plus like 4 others. It went through a 4spd conversion then back...

    Gen VI 7.4L Valve tap

Well here we are almost mid march and the third Monday in a row with temp in the upper 60s (saw 75 on the thermometer in my truck) so this day I took off to pull the head and figure out a game plan. To my surprise bodean1's post 36 was the winner. "I still think it's an exhaust leak...

Just acquired a 170 Horizon. Assembly required.

Thats a sweet car looks pretty solid. Here in the rust belt they all rotted away. The ZX turbo engine should make it go great. Mine go a new home with the sale of the Satellite, should help it stay nice for years to come. You can see some boat parts from my boat project. 7.4L Valve tap...

Just acquired a 170 Horizon. Assembly required.

That's what I am hoping for, a low mileage original 70 Datsun 240Z just sold for and ridicules $300K. I have owned a 280Z, 280ZX and 4 300ZXs that I have driven. Drove the first 2 as daily drivers logged well over 150K miles between them, Then finally bought a really nice white with red 87...
