Rehab SportCraft 222 1983 deep V hull cuddy walkaround

AFAIK, this is their higher end offering, with a better (brighter) screen thank the reveal series. It's a very good deal right now. Same price as the hook reveal for a more full featured unit. Check this out! https://a.co/2WH4zzs

Does this LU oil look bad/milky to you?

Alright well I just resealed the whole LU just to be safe. Oil that came out actually didn't looks very bad or milky. Not sure why that little bit at the drain looked funky. It did seem like the upper/lower oil seals below the water pump were failing, the bearing surface had a little rust, and...

1964 Glasspar Seafair Sedan - minor restore w/questions.

Pretty much done for now. This never ends does it? Made a little custom rod holder situation with some holders off Amazon, and some 7/8" SS rail. Time to go crabbing.

Does this LU oil look bad/milky to you?

It has a drain plug, a fill level plug, and a third vent plug, so it might just be semantics if there's any confusion. I removed the fill level plug but not the vent plug, and was of course pumping from the bottom. I wouldn't imagine that just because the vent plug was in place during the fill...

    16ft Glasspar w/65hp 2 stroke

Nice glasspar. I have a '64 Seafair Sedan that just matured into a pilothouse. I was gonna say to make sure the boat itself is sound but then read that you are gonna tear into her. I believe the '60 had wooden stringers unfortunately, so that'll add a fair bit of work. Mine is 17' and powered...

Does this LU oil look bad/milky to you?

That it is. I have the fill plug removed and was pumping oil in from the bottom. When I noticed it looked a little milky I stopped and took a pic. I am doing a pressure test shortly once it warms up a little outside.

Does this LU oil look bad/milky to you?

Though if oil is in fact slinging out from the prop then it would indicate oil seals and not drain/fill plug. Ordered a LU rebuild kit just to have it on the way in case. It was $50 so I'll keep it even if it's not the issue. Will post pressure test results tomorrow.

Does this LU oil look bad/milky to you?

I did not replace washers. Didn't have them at the time, and they looked in great condition. However, I didn't remove the vent screw when I did the fill (didn't know I needed to) and I did remove it earlier today, that washer did not look in as good of condition. I think I'll replace washers and...

Does this LU oil look bad/milky to you?

Ran my '02 Merc 90hp 4 stroke on muffs this morning and saw what looked to be oil slick on both sides of the prop on the ground. Had checked my engine oil yesterday and it was a little low, so I filled. Then this morning I decided to check the LU oil just in case that's what was on the ground...

Poly or epoxy, not sure what to go with?

I've used versions of those extensively in my work. There are examples and instructions for how to build simple ones online, and they work quite well. Have one permanently hooked to one of my chop saws that catches most of the dust before filling the shop vac bag.

1964 Glasspar Seafair Sedan - minor restore w/questions.

Mocking up with cardboard at night. Fun. Now with plywood, built it all mostly out of 1/4" AC scrap play sheets I had leftover from jobs. Had these little tails hanging out to support eaves but decided to do away with them. Would make for a gassing and finishing nightmare, plus once...

1964 Glasspar Seafair Sedan - minor restore w/questions.

Well it's been a while, and I haven't taken much of a break from continuing to build this thing out. Figure I'd share a bit of the progress: Had a 90hp Johnny on there for a while and recently traded up to a 90hp 4 stroke merc. Just spent a good part of a week building a pilothouse for it too...

    2000 Mercury 90hp 4 stroke pro series

I've not heard of water getting into the oil from an open thermostat. What I do know (which is not much compared to some here) is that a stuck open tstat/extended low rpm (trolling) can have these engines "making oil," where the oil is diluted by fuel passing the rings as in both cases the...

Front wheel drive launching & retrieving

There is no 100%, and I could imagine a condition where you would be susceptible to sliding, which is either an icy ramp in sub zero temps, or a super super low tide launch at the beginning of the season or anytime there is a lot of algae/seaweed growing on the ramp. Nothing in boating is ever...

2010 Merc 115 4 stroke issue when going into neutral

On mine, which is an 02, the grommet is simply he'd in by castings in the cowling, held in by tension until the cowling is removed. Easy to rip out with enough force. For the stalling, there is a sensor that momentarily revs down the engine when going in or out of gear, to keep it from shifting...

    2000 4 Stroke Mercury 40hp No Spark #2 cylinder

Do you have the FSM? I can't help you with this problem specifically, but on my engine ('02 4 stroke) under certain fault conditions it will only fire two of the cylinders. It's possible (but I'm guessing) that your engine might cut out #2 in a fault condition, and the no spark is a signal from...

1/4" crown staples for bunk carpeting?

I understand the tendency, but I wouldn't overthink this one.
