    Re: stator to alternator OK back at home now. There is a wire that goes from the solenoid to the starter (as it should). There is a part on top of the starter that has a wire coming from the voltage regulator. Have a look, please and thanks.

    I have a 3.7 (488r) merc currently in my boat. If I were to replace the motor could I replace it with a 4.3 or would I have to change a bunch of parts in the out drive?

    I have a question, maybe a dumb one but here goes. If I had twin motors on my boat, for simplicity sake I say twin 100hp. I know the combined horse power is 200 but is that the same as a single 200hp motor. I know the idea behind twin motors is redundancy and not so much power.

    I have a 17.5 Thundercraft with a 3.7 488r and a alpha one outdrive. Currently I hit about 4800 rpm WOT with a 19 inch prop. Here's what I am thinking, I should increase the pitch and lower the rpm. Do you think my boat could handle a 23 or more pitch and if so should I be looking at 4 or 3 blade.

    Why

    I have a question, why can't I run my I/O with muffs on and motor up. I can see the water coming out the out drive and the motor is not over heating. BTW, I have a closed cooling system if that makes a difference.
