    picked up a Johnson power trim unit off a 1986 90hp. the relay box has a red, red/purple, and black wires coming out of it to be connected to the powerhead. not sure where to connect the red/purple.

    I have a 1979 Johnson 70hp model 70EL79R that does not have trim now. I found a 1985 90hp model 90TLCOS with a blown power head but a good trim unit and controls. Does anyone know if the 1985 90hp trim unit will fit in the 1979 70hp?

    Hard to start evinrude...results

    After trying 3 different fuel pumps I got a new one and after some cranking it finally started on its own without starting fluid. Apparently she needs strong fuel psi to deliver the goods. Once the diaphragm is slightly worn its not good enough?

    Hard to start Evinrude

    9.9 johnson question

    got a get running 1977 9.9 Johnson with one issue. the throttle linkage from the end of the handle to the gear under the hood has so much play is so worn the I can turn the grip from slow to fast without any speed change. how difficult is it to remove and replace the throttle linkage/shaft parts?

    1983 25hp johnson won't pee...

    got a 1983 25hp Johnson model j25RLCTE that sat for 9-1/2 years. I replaced the impeller and it sprays water out the exhaust holes strong but nothing from the pee hole. I removed the tube from the head and checked for blockage. would a corroded thermostat cause something like this to happen?

    9-1/2 hp compression test

    did a compression test on a 1967 9-1/2hp Johnson. it is only 60 psi in each cylinder. seems really low. motor starts and trolls in a barrel pretty well. shouldn't the compression be around 120 psi? is replacing the rings difficult? can someone post repair instructions?

    just got a 1967 9.5hp Johnson. came with fouled up champion j6c plugs. marine engineers shows j4c. champion catalog j8c. which plug is the best to use for trolling long periods of time?

    40hp Johnson won't idle...

    got a 1984 40hp Johnson tiller that won't idle. carbs have been cleaned, new plugs and fresh gas. I removed the air box and notice gas will spray out from the top carb. could this be a cracked reed?

    1977 35hp Johnson won't turn off

    got a 1977 35hp Johnson model 35EC77C. it has a black plug harness with the key on the dash. starts right up and runs great but won't stop running when I key the key off. have to choke it to get it to stall out and quit.

    got a 1997 Yamaha 8hp 2-stroke. I'm having issues with it flooding after it runs for less than a minute. I've narrowed the problem to the carb. Put a different carb on it and it runs great. What is the correct float level setting?

    water on spark plugs???

    got a 8hp mariner, its a Yamaha built one, model 6G1-L-308585. pulled the plugs out and all around the threads is this milkly fluid. both cylinders test around 130 psi compression. how does water get in? motor seems to run pretty good.
