    Real weight of a Merc V/6 ?

    looking at getting a V/6 merc and i'm wondering why there is such a big weight difference between a 1989 150hp and a 1988 175hp? The 1989 150hp is listed at 395lbs, the 1988 175hp is at 358lbs. Anyone know why the 150 is so much heavier?

    This is the 99.6 c.u. model. what compression should it have? the one I found the guy says it runs great, pulling the kids tubing and all that but he said three cylinders have 110psi and one has 90psi. would a motor with these numbers even produce 140 horse power?

    Just picked up a 1983 75hp Johnson with no spark. This motor has been sitting outside unused since 2007. Looking under the fly wheel the contacts on the stator look green with tarnish. is it possible that just cleaning them will solve the problem? I haven't pulled the fly wheel off yet.
