    1968 tilt/trim leaking by

1968 Glasspar with single solenoid Prestolite pump. Bought boat without a drive on it. Installed one off a 1969 (same setup). Boat sits super low on trailer so when running on hose 2 nights ago, I'd try and keep skeg about 2" off the ground but it would leak down within 30 seconds. I put the...

    1969 Glasspar outdrive swap out

Man, what a PAIN it was to install a drive that came right out of a bellhousing and right in (new o-rings and gaskets of course) to one that hasn't had one in 13+ years and exposed to moisture that entire time. Splines got in to the coupler fairly easy but when it was time for the last 1.25"...

    1969 Glasspar outdrive swap out

Thanks Scott. Sounds like a plan. Since I don't know if the 21 was correct for the boat, I'll throw it on the 1.98 and go from there with the pitch calculator.

    1969 Glasspar outdrive swap out

The boat came with a prop but no drive, haha. Prop in it was a 21 pitch and the prop on the 12 was a 17 but might have been a little much since I couldn't get above 3500rpm with it. But if the 160 ran correctly with a 21 I'd guess I'd need like a 25 pitch on the 1.98. Thank you Eric.

    1969 Glasspar outdrive swap out

Just purchased a 1969 Glasspar with 160hp Inline-6. Only thing missing is the outdrive. I have a 1969 Tom Sawyer with a 120hp inline-4 sitting here I was hoping I could slap the drive on to the Glasspar just to be able to lake test it. I know the ratio is not the same for the 4 and 6 cylinder...

Bravo shifter / throttle install on a gen 2???

Ok, so will I need custom cables adapters at the throttle / gear selector or at the engine / transom, or will they operate correctly by just replacing a "alpha style" with a "bravo style". Like, the throw of the cables will be correct?

Bravo shifter / throttle install on a gen 2???

Well shoot, I googled Bravo shifter with gen two drive and found nothing. Apparently it's not a "bravo" shifter. thanks.

Bravo shifter / throttle install on a gen 2???

Seriously? I can't find anything about it and figured maybe the brackets and cables would be of different lengths or something for the different shifters / drives.

Bravo shifter / throttle install on a gen 2???

Is there a way to install a separate forward/reverse shifter and have a throttle only on a Alpha One Gen Two like a Bravo has? I can't see why not, but can't find any info. With how much our lake feels like an ocean, I'd love to be able to idle and just shift forward and reverse without the...

cleaned out the flame arrestor and "found" this cool thing....

That’s the plan. Gloss black most likely and I’ll sand down the cover with some fine grit to almost polish it. Also looking to make a cover for valve cover that’ll look similar to sticker that was on there.

cleaned out the flame arrestor and "found" this cool thing....

While cleaning my filthy, probably never cleaned since new flame arrestor, in a fab shop, this cool little cover appeared all of a sudden.... LOL

1969 Mercruiser 120 shift interrupt issues

Thanks Kenny, that makes more sense that it was possibly done last time cables were adjusted and not from the factory. Definitely didn't see that in the directions of adjusting cables, haha, but makes sense. So I am glad it was in there when I did and now I know. I guess I really won't know...

1969 Mercruiser 120 shift interrupt issues

Hello, I bought a 1969 Tom Sawyer with a Mercruiser 120, so from my research it's a MC-1 outdrive??? It does not have trim sending unit switches which is a bummer but maybe wasn't available that early. Anyways, struggled to get it out of forward and reverse when we took it for a spin to make...

    2006 Mercruiser 3.0 Swap to 1987 Mercruiser 260

After not being able to get over 20mph with MANY attempts of fixing this, changing that, I’m swapping my 135hp 3.0 over to a 260hp 5.7. It will fit, BARELY, and will take plenty of fab work for engine mounts, adding a center toon, etc., that I’m capable of doing myself. I would never even think...

Alpha 1 gen 1 mercruiser 260 and gen 2 gimble

recently purchased a 1987 Sea Arrow with a Mercruiser 260. Looking to use the engine and whatever else needed to swap out my 2006 3.0 with a Gen 2. I know the v8 runs a 1.50:1 ratio and my gen 2 is a 2.00:1. I’d prefer to keep my gen 2 and regear if needed. I’d assume the engine will bolt to the...

    24ft Suntracker 3.0 I/O with 40% prop slip

Bought the boat a year ago and tachometer didn’t read correctly. Mercruiser with Alpha one 2.0 gear ratio. With the prop that came on it, a 16x14p, I’d only get 16-17mph with 4 adults and 3 kids. This year with the new tach, I’ve ran this prop again and getting 4000 rpm. At that rpm and speed...

    Will a 140 I/o (Serials 4920217 + 4907327) be a straight swap with a 1963 110 ?

Found a complete I/O on Craigslist for cheap but motor most likely will need rebuilt. Has everything, steering, tilt, trim, etc. the straight horsepower should be nice but more interested in it for parts availability and tilt and trim since mine has neither

I KNOW, I KNOW, there's a Bible about serial numbers but I'm cunfused.

A boat I might buy to swap the complete sterndrive, etc for has these stickers on valve cover. I haven't seen in person, looks like a late 80's Bayliner. I can see on the pic on middle of valve cover that it's a 181cu in. Any insight?

Steering..... Does this look normal, or even safe?

After looking thru the Mercruiser I.D bible, I did not find a picture or description of this setup. It has the steering tube on the transom plate, but it's not being used and the cable is directly hooked to steering arm.
