Serial # location on Chrysler outboards

The plate location is on the mounting bracket and it’s faded so I was wondering if there was any other way to get the serial number.

69 Evinrude 6Hp correct spark plugs

So I am almost done on working on an used 6hp evinrude fisherman I bought and I need for it a new set of spark plugs. I’ve found two answers online for what plug to use. The original manual says to use a champion j4c but people say online a j6c will work. I would rather go with the j6c if I can...

‘69 Evinrude 6 Shifting Rod connecting problem

I sanded it and it really helped but still leaked a little. What I did is I took some marine grease and applied it on both sides of the gasket and so far it hasn't leaked a drop since.

Makes plenty of sense to me and I’m glad I don’t have to buy a whole new housing now because the old one is in great shape. I appreciate it too I couldn’t find that info anywhere online.

    1969 evinrude 6 impeller size

I got a used 1969 evinrude 6hp and decided to change the water pump in it. I looked up the part number (0277181) and ordered one. Once I got the impeller housing apart the old impeller and inside the housing was much smaller than the new one and the new one couldn’t go down over the old impeller...
