    what kills sparkplugs?

    plugs seem to be a very basic part.......no moving parts, simple yet crucial little things. what and makes them not do what they are supposed to do? ie fail completely?( assuming that the rest of the ignition system is working)

    where do i find needles and seats for mid 50's motors? im probably looking...and missing something, but gasket sets, floats, and float needles are easy to find here on iboats, but high and low speed needles and seats dont seem to be there? (should i upgrade my reading glasses? lol)

    has any one done the conversion from 10:1 mix to 25:1 mix? is there any easy way to tell if my newly aquired motor has been converted? (im barrel running it at 16:1 and it smokes like a houseafire, drips black oil so bad it makes my mid fiftys johnsons look clean!) any help would be...

    any suggestions on where to find 140wt gear oil? called around and can get 90wt, but 140wt is whats needed?

    killing plugs, im lost for an answer/opinion!

    Re: killing plugs, im lost for an answer/opinion! found out theres a cork gasket under the coil (no condenser to be seen), that gasket HAS to be intact...it is, and dry....it wasnt! heres a cuple of pics of the motor, it now starts first pull, no choke, warm or cold.

    british seagull ....how to identify

    just picked up a british seagull, 1.5 hp, so the seller thought. how can i date and identify this motor. the only markings i can find are an "f" with 33409 under it.

    have been looking high and low for a powerhead for my 56 johnson 5.5, made a call to gentleman to inquire about a possible unit. this guy .....and what a great person, has close to 150 motors!....all runners! even mentioned one that has a knob on the flywheel to start it??? he is also restoring...
