1981 MC-1 driveshaft reinstall into upper housing- any tricks to this?

amazing what a diff it makes with just a bit of heat. You can do the same getting bearings on shafts etc by heating them. We have a couple bearing heaters at work that Ive used for jobs like this.

I would think since they are from a common lineage . I have owned both but never compared dipstick location on the block vs oil pan sump location

Advice / Tips for Draining Old gas and checking fuel lines.

agreed seen was not meant literally. I think the oldest gas I ran was about 8-10 years old, and this is E10, was stabilized originally but car just sat as an unfinished product for years. Conversely this summer my buddies boat fuel smelled fine but got milky when sitting in a jar. Something in...

Advice / Tips for Draining Old gas and checking fuel lines.

I’ll play the other side of the fence , have you taken a sample of the fuel out and seen what it looks like first. I have seen stabilized fuel older than that be fine. Have also siphoned fuel out of rusty fuel tank, let it settle in 5 gal buckets, siphon off the sediment and run it through a...

    TB V?

I don't ever recall seeing a carbed TBV 4.3 that used a knock module. I'll look though my TB V ignition manual (4B) manual tonight but dont think you'll find a listing for it. Attached is a module listing from sterdrive.cc , the only 4.3 knock modules it lists are for TBI engines with Delco...

    Specs for external "shop" tachometer

normally a shop tach is for temp hook up either on a plug or the negative side of the coil. if you need a timing light I would get a timing light with a tach. I keep waiting for my old dial back timing light to die (1990 vintage...)...

Maybe my turn for new boat time

good to know thanks for sharing this. I have never bought a new boat, but our current one is a 2004, kids are almost out of college, was trying to warm the wife up to it. We have had two smallish Sea Rays ('91 and '04) and they have held up really well but I was really disappointed with the...

Maybe my turn for new boat time

Are you happy with the boat in general. Was just at the Philly boat show and thought the fit and finish on the chaprrals was pretty good. Was not impressed with the Sea Ray SPXs. SLXs were comfortable interiors on the other hand.

    Affordable fuel injection intriguing

I had zero issues in 20 years of having our DDIS 3.0, boat was 5 years old when we got it, so 25 years trouble free. I never even changed the plug wires. I would run it until something breaks which If I recall correctly is normally the module or coil pack.

    Affordable fuel injection intriguing

And parts are NLA. I had one on my 1991 Sea ray 170. I had no issues with it in 20 years of ownership. But if the module or coil pack goes your best option is the EST yeah the sensor is a sawed off distributor. I think on a 3.0 the dist drives the oil pump too so they used the base of it for...
