    cold start lever not advancing throttle

    i have a 73 evinrude 50 horse. when i lift the cold start lever up, it will not advance the throttle but just a very tiny amount. it seems to have a lot of slack in it.i was wondering if there was any way to remove the slack from the cable on the remote end.
