    Parking boat in driveway

I like that idea. Pick up a 1970s Buick or Mercury with the curb feelers and get it registered and insured for pennies. It would look fantastic hooked up to the boat.

    Parking boat in driveway

Years ago I unhitched my boat in front of a friend's house in Minneapolis. We went to go haul some stuff and when I got back, my boat had a ticket. Same thing, I looked it up and discovered that it can't be unhitched on a city street. Hooked up to a tow vehicle and parked is okay.

    1st Boat

I like to ask the seller questions about maintenance. When was the gear oil last changed? When was the impeller last replaced? Etc.. If they don't know that's a bad sign. If they have paperwork, that's usually a good sign. Motors and boats that were not maintained well by the previous owner, are...

Stalling at Idle and Idle Speed

If I'm reading this correctly, you had a no-start issue in August, got it fixed, and therefore you have ruled out that it's a motor issue? This is October. You could have a new issue with the carburetor. Lots of mechanics skip steps, like rebuilding a carburetor without replacing the needle and...

    handy cap crane mounting

I don't know if you are always leaving from a dock at your home, so I'll just suggest mounting the crane to your dock instead of the boat. I'm sure that limits flexibility, but it sure is a lot easier than mounting a crane to a boat that was never intended to support such a device.

    I got a boat...help needed!

Sounds like a cut and paste out of the advertisement that got you to buy the boat. Take it back to the seller and demand your money back. I'm pretty serious about my statement above. However, you are likely stuck with buying a boat that it sounds like you didn't test in the water first. Never...

Why I do not have new boats.

Kids and new boaters should all start with a 14ft tin boat with a small motor. They will run it into rocks, other boats, and the trailer plenty of times. Starting them on old stuff is the way to go. My daughter has been steering my boat since she was 2. She's a teenager and can wheel that boat...

Grease zerk in center of the axle stripped out,

Those tiny threads are easy to strip if your grease gun is holding onto the fitting for dear life. As airshot said, just get a bigger press zerk fitting and tap her into place.

Need GPS/Fish Finder Recommendations For New Boat

I have a 10yr old Lowrance with a 7" screen, that was pretty good for its time. It doesn't have side-scan or any of the new technologies. I am a casual fisherman as well. I do use split-screen often but am mostly interested in seeing the depth, contour lines, water temp, and bottom composition...

When do you pull your freshwater boat?

Okay, I'll bite. I thought that it should be completely full, as almost full leaves the entire ceiling surface of the fuel tank open for condensation. Did something change to this advice? Is there a concern about fuel expansion?? Is there a problem with the Earth's gravitational pull??? To the...

The Lake will never be the same again

Understood. It sounds like some full time residents need to run for the board. If they can't get elected, then for better or worse their opinions are in the minority.

    Windmill boat bettery charging

I did make it through to the end. More information is better than less. The lowrance is the only thing that I can think may be the culprit. 8 miles isn't all that far to charge a battery. How many hours are you running the Lowrance with the motor off? If you're sitting out there fishing and...

Need locking gas cap for 2006 190 LS

Rig up a Rube Goldberg type of trap where a string is tied to the gas cap and when it's removed, the string pulls the trigger on a shotgun. I saw it work repeatedly in Looney Tunes.

    Windmill boat bettery charging

I'll ask the dumb question. What are you running on your boat that consumes so much electricity each trip? All of my onboard electronics (graph, stereo) are run off the marine battery, which is kept charged by the motor's alternator. Not knowing what boat you have, is there a way to lessen the...

Why am I replacing woodruff key???????

How do you not install a key properly? I can 100% guarantee that the key was specified for my motor.

    F200 Impeller Change

If it didn't pee in the bucket, I was going to suggest some blockage just after the impeller. If you haven't done it, take off the intake screen in the lower unit. You'll be surprised some of the debris that makes it in there. Be careful when tightening the screw, as you can easily break the...

Why am I replacing woodruff key???????

The issue of course is that if it corrodes and then snaps, you're really going to have a problem removing the part of the key that is sitting in the depression on the shaft. I just replaced the water pump on my DF90 last week. The key fell out as soon as I pulled up on the impeller. It really...

    DF140 surging

It sounds like a fuel issue than a spark issue, so I think that the injectors were the likely culprit. Great job chasing down the problem.

How many of us have a GREEN Seahorse motor ?

Mine has the original cork as well. It's amazing how well these little motors run. My '57 Johnson Seahorse 3hp also runs like a champ.

The Lake will never be the same again

My neighbor used to peddle the same crap to me about all of the "citidiots" coming up on the weekends. I reminded him that he was once one of those folks coming up on the weekend, but now puffing his chest purely because he was a little older than the rest and able to move up permanently. As I...
