Stalling Force 120 when popped into gear

I have a 1990 force 120 with an 89 125 top end (long story). Runs great on plane, fires right up, however it dies when engaging into forward or reverse unless I rev it a bit. It seems to idle ok once I bring it back down. It happens when I start it after its warm or on initial start up. Any Ideas?
