    Gateway not storing fuel used

Sorry, forgot to mention my unit is a lowrance HDS 12. no smartcraft gauges. All I have is the hds, the gateway, and the motorguide on the network. I tried all kinds of settings, and loaded the newest update, but the fuel level still shows 0. I selected the center tank source as the mercury...

    Gateway not storing fuel used

fuel data manager. formerly known as the ep-85. Yes, I tried entering 100 liters for example, and the fuel remaining shows 0 still. To be clear, I want an electronic module to calculate the amount of fuel used based on the fuel flow data from the ecm, which in turn is based on the amount of fuel...

    Gateway not storing fuel used

Hello, I decided to add an nmea 2000 gateway to my motor (115 optimax). The lowrance now displays fuel flow rate, and all kinds of other engine stuff, but the fuel remaining always shows 0. I tried hitting refuel to no avail, fuel remaining is still stuck at 0. There is a data field for fuel...

1995 5.7 Mercruiser no start, no fire.

Massive lean backfire through the carb.

1995 5.7 Mercruiser no start, no fire.

Well, it turns out there was a blown intake gasket that prevented it from starting.

1995 5.7 Mercruiser no start, no fire.

Hello Ive been scratching my head over this one. 1995 5.7 with 4bbl carb and thunderbolt ignition. I am not too familiar with these things but I still am surprised why it won't run. The boat ran fine last week. This time it cranks and intermittently fires, but won't run. The accelerator pump...

    Velvet drive dipstick tool

Hello once again. I was doing a bunch of oil changes on velvet drives and they all have the stupid screen that tapers down around the dipstick, which means I have to use a really thin tube to suck the trans fluid out. It takes a really long time with the thin tube, and I'd like to buy the...

    5.7 MPI Misfires Under Load

your numbers look good, however, I recommend to check the timing. I had a boat that would fire out the intake like an AK-47. Timing was off. After setting to the required location, no more issues.

    5.7 MPI Misfires Under Load

Your IAC readings look perfect. It is near full open at 3500 so if you close the throttle rapidly, the engine won't stall, and has some air to burn the still flowing fuel with. If you are having a backfire under load, check your ignition timing and compression. Could be a hanging valve or timing...

    Oil filter socket

Hey everyone I found myself doing a bunch of oil changes on mercruisers this year. (about 4 per day). A strap wrench doesn't always work the best. Does anyone remember what size oil filter socket mercruiser oil filters use? Thanks.

    Any tricks for wire corrosion

Older? how does 2017 sound? oof! I am basically stuck with metri-pak 280 plugs, these plugs are the only ones compatible with my fuse box. They do have waterproof seals, but water somehow made it past those seals. And yes, it was saltwater. Some wires are shiny copper but others are turning...

    Any tricks for wire corrosion

It says it is marine grade on the jacket, but it sure as hell isn't tinned. I will post some pics of the wires later today.

    Any tricks for wire corrosion

Hi, I am working on the wiring on my boat. Some plugs got wet and the wires started to tarnish. No green corrosion, but the wires do have that black oxide coating on them. 1. Is there some kind of crap I can buy that will soak up the wire and stop the corrosion? 2. How long will these wires...

    Etec evinrude 150

Probably... idk much about the carbed engines though - I only mess with E-TEC. Maybe I'm part of the wierd crowd that likes the world's hated engines - HPDI, optimax, ETEC. LOL For the OP: Here is a couple of diagrams of the recirculation system. Be careful when working on the oiling system as...

    Etec evinrude 150

That is caused by bad recirculation check valves. Easy fix, just buy the new oil recirculation check valves or take the old ones apart and clean then out. They sometime like to stick. They act like a pump which sucks the oil from the bottom of the crankcase and puts it in the top.

1997 Landau 1650 need more speed

Try a jackplate. May get a few more mph out of it. Secondly, if you run light weight all the time, decreasing blade area will decrease propeller blade surface drag and give some more rpm and speed. You are currently propped for the middle of the rpm range, which is exactly the peak of the power...
