BF200 power loss at full throttle

While it is on the trailer, check that you gas tank vent hose is not clogged. Blow air into it and make sure air is coming out the gas fill hole. Hopefully your gas tank isn't full or else this might not work. Also check that the gas anti-siphon valve is clear and working properly if you have one.

    Water leak

You said you changed the bellows and all related rubber so I would start your search there. Clean and dry your bilge before you launch. Launch and tie the boat to the dock. As soon as you put the boat in the water, watch for the water to come in and follow the initial stream of water to the...

Mercruiser 3.0 overheated, Is my motor shot?

Bad gauge. The gauge shouldn't jump up then go to zero, it should stay at whatever the pressure was. Sounds like you did everything correct. If you want to confirm there is at least some compression, put a piece of masking tape over a spark plug hole and crank the engine over. The compression...

    No water out of exhaust.

That is it, well done! Did you overheat the engine, or did you shut it down soon after startup when you realized there was no water? Only asking because if the exhaust had no water cooling and got too hot, your internal exhaust flappers may have been melted. You can take off the lower boot...

Boat stalling when toggling between Forward and Reverse (Docking)

First check your shift interrupter switch and the shift plate assembly. Make sure it is engaging the interrupter switch, then disengaging the switch when you shift. This switch is what momentarily stalls your engine so the clutch in your lower unit can shift. A second thing to check is your...

    No water out of exhaust.

Post a picture of the part. Did you look at your drive's parts diagram? There are not very many plastic parts.

Mercruiser 3.0 overheated, Is my motor shot?

Assuming you have a raw water cooled system (or even a half system), you would need to take the riser off and block off the water passage between the main manifold and the riser. You can do so by putting a solid cork gasket between the riser and manifold, then put the riser back on and tighten...

    89. Mercruiser engine swap problems

Might be a dumb question, but did you use a timing light after it was running to confirm timing, or are you just lining up the harmonic balancer with the timing indicator? Another question, how long has it been since you ran the old engine? I am wondering how old the gas in the tank is.

Mercruiser 3.0 overheated, Is my motor shot?

It is common that the exhaust manifold(s) crack when marine engines are overheated. When that happens, it leaves a direct path for water to enter into the cylinders through the exhaust, hydrolocking the engine. A pressure test of the exhaust manifold and riser is the right thing to do. If not a...

    Yamaha 130 Rect/Reg Charge Issue

Picked up the OEM part 6R3-81960-10-00 today. It had the spare red wire. I put it on the engine and just left the spare red wire on the rectifier/regulator unconnected. The engine is charging the battery now! All is well. Still not sure what the purpose of the other wire is.

    Yamaha 130 Rect/Reg Charge Issue

So I found this trying to figure out what the spare wire is: "The OEM version for some applications of the RM30428 will have an extra red wire used for voltage sensing. The RM30428 does not include or need this wire, as the voltage is sensed directly from the battery connection. If your original...

    Yamaha 130 Rect/Reg Charge Issue

1996 Yamaha 130TLRU serial: 6L1 L 308426 X I am not getting a charge current to my battery. Both my multimeter and sonar agree with that. With everything turned off, my battery was reading 12.8 volts consistently. With the engine running for 5+ minutes at 1750 RPMs, it would only read 12.6...

New Alternator Mount Bracket. Replacing Log Manifolds

I did not feel like making something up. I am burnt from building this engine and just want to go fishing at this point haha. I installed the 87115A1 bracket and it fits PERFECTLY! It puts the alternator in the exact same spot as it was on the log manifolds, and I do not even need a different...

New Alternator Mount Bracket. Replacing Log Manifolds

The mounts that use the bottom holes would not work since the power steering pump mount bracket would kick those alternator brackets out to far that the pulley for the alternator would not align. If I mounted those brackets under the power steering pump bracket, that would kick the power...

New Alternator Mount Bracket. Replacing Log Manifolds

Bondo I looked up a parts diagram for a 5.7L 88-95 Merc and it gave me the part number 87115a1 which looks like the below picture: That looks like it will work great, and I think I will be able to leave the power steering pump where it is in my boat. And I do not have to weld some monstrosity...

New Alternator Mount Bracket. Replacing Log Manifolds

Do you have an example? That would be ideal, but the long mounting bolt is what has me questioning how I would do it, and if I could make one strong enough to support the weight of the alternator. I could buy this easy part and bolt something to it, but examples would be nice before I just...

New Alternator Mount Bracket. Replacing Log Manifolds

Hello all! I originally started with a Mercruiser 228 with FWC, but am upgrading to a built 383 stroker. I am upgrading my exhaust manifolds to center rise manifolds. I have the old log-style manifolds that has the alternator bracket mounted to the port side manifold. Is there a bracket I can...

    Hard steering.

Did you disconnect the steering cable from the outboard and turn the wheel to make sure the problem is on the outboard side? Just an easy check before you dive into the steering bracket of the outboard. If you have already checked that and you are sure it is in the outboard bracket, here is a...

    Bravo 3 seacore - U joint replacement?

Good to hear! I kept forgetting to take a picture of the "V" notch I was talking about. It is not a hard job for anyone who has done it so you should be in good hands. It can be hard your first time if you don't know where or how to start. Car mechanics will replace them for you too for future...

    Bravo 3 seacore - U joint replacement?

Yes a regular Joe can do it. They can be frustrating your first time though. There are many good, "How to replace a ujoint" videos on YouTube like you said. Even ones specifically done on Mercruiser outdrives. Probably more videos on Alphas than Bravos, but it is the same process. I advise not...
