Mercury Tempest, Turning Point Mach 3 or Michigan Wheel Apollo?

If my memory serves me correctly, the rake is what controls bow lift, but you need someone with more prop expertise than I have.

    2000’s Bayliner 175 I/O

I would look at a good aluminum hull, and forget the cheap glass hulls.

1994 Starcraft Super Fisherman 170 Rebuild Help

Might be better to show the problem areas themselves. Nice looking boat, that hull style handles chop well.

1994 Starcraft Super Fisherman 170 Rebuild Help

Just keep in mind, while it may be a fun project to get the boat just the way you want it.....you will never get your time and money back out of the project. If that is OK....then onward !!! If that is going to be a problem then look for a boat that needs little to no work. Good luck....

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

Wife's car is leather and they are hot in summer and cold in winter until the heaters warm them up. My Jeep has cloth seats and they are cool in the summer and the seat heaters warm them quickly in the winter, which my arthritis likes real well. Hand also let me the heated wheel as hands have...

    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

On my Jeep, the temp at which they come on can be adjusted in the dash panel. Just realized it this fall when I found out I could remove the annoying centerline on the backup camera. Currently my seat scans steering wheel are set at 40 degrees F.

    Prince craft boats

Based on my limited exposure the early models had some construction issues, but later models have had few complaints that I know of. They were not very popular in my area, but that doesn't mean they were bad. I am referring to the aluminum hulls, do not know if glass versions were ever made...

    Been a little cold.

Every outboard I have ever owned has the mfgr. stating that their motors should be stored vertically if temps are going to go below freezing ! That is the only position where they completely drain.

    New project

Yes they are very difficult to get started....now I am wondering if that was missing back when I bought it ? Only used it a couple times, then met up with friends that had a power auger.....mine hasn't seen ice in over 30 years.

96' Mercury 40hp bore put question

Unfortunately your in a politically correct state with two strokes just about illegal to have or work on. Here in the great lakes area, we have plenty of two stroke repair places. You may have to consider hiring a private machine shop, or send it out of state.

    4.3 crankshaft/housing oil leak - next steps?

Best job would be to pull the engine....otherwise it becomes a half added job and will probably be needed done again down the road. Had that same leak on my 3.0....bought oil absorbing mats that lay in the bilge and soak up the oil so bilge stays just water. When I calculated the amount of oil...

    Been a little cold.

We have a few that do that up here in Lake Erie, gotta get that last Walleye of the year... A few have ended up with frozen blocks and tilting the out board up high enough and it will trap water in the exhaust hub and cause damage. Seen a few in my years..

Identify the thread of this screw from my boat

The Phillips head was also designed for power tools as the slot head screw was difficult to use with power screw drivers. Phillips head kept the driver centered on the screw.

Identify the thread of this screw from my boat

All these crazy style screw heads are designed for one purpose....to try to stop people from stealing stuff ! If we were allowed to shoot thieves, any ole fastener would work !

Identify the thread of this screw from my boat

Should have been around before WWII, each mfgr had their own threads, nothing was standard....for example....a 1/4" diameter machine screw was available in the following threads, 16, 18, 20, 24, 28, 32, and 36 just as an example. Manufacturing created the standard system we use now to make war...

    Been a little cold.

Once the exhaust opening freezes shut....no place else for water to drain. Many never drop the motor down to let it drain before tilting it up. I have saw a few that left their boats in until well past seasons end, figuring the water would keep the lower unit from freezing....but the block is...
