How to prevent jack from seizing up? Gets submerged every launch

If your going thru that many jacks, I would invest in a quick removal jack to take off and throw in your trunk...especially in saltwater !

How to prevent jack from seizing up? Gets submerged every launch

I do that at the end if each season, fill with grease and gear oil then crank the you know what out if it, all the way up and down for its winter storage. Come spring it is ready to go.

How to prevent jack from seizing up? Gets submerged every launch

Salt water is your enemy....if your going that deep, then your rear axle/ rotors/ drums are also getting salt in them. Can't imagine backing in that far, but I have saw some really bad ramps so it probably happens. My jack has a plastic cap on top that pops off so grease or heavy gear lube can...

Need trailer roller arm mount thing

They are support arms for rollers, they are normally galvanized as aluminum would not be strong enough. There are a number of trailer supply stores that should carry some version of these. One is called E Trailer and there are numerous others. I don't know how to add links, but if you do a...

    I HATE AUTOMATIC BILGE PUMPS!

If your boat is leaking bad enough that it will sink in 20 minutes, it has problems other than a faulty bilge pump ! Years back I did the ole " forgot to put in the drain plug" and found the boat about half sunk after a long 15 minute walk from a busy parking lot. By all he time I got the plug...

    Boat to trailer latches

I took a chance and ordered one while on sale. I went with the Boat2Trailer unit....20 bucks off and free shipping. Bow curve could be an issue, but I don't think it will. Retired toolmaker here with access to a full machine shop if needed.

    Boat to trailer latches

Smart thinking....if more people would look closely at their loading and unloading practises, things would move far more quickly at the ramps. I am one that goes overboard in making my tow vehicle, trailer, and boat as user friendly as possible, so I am quick to get in and out. My current...

    Boat to trailer latches

Neighbor has them, but had to cut them smaller as they were to slippery. That is the nice part about them, you can adjust the slickness by size

    Boat to trailer latches

I have owned a number of both both no and roller trailers, each have their advantages and disadvantages. Based on the types of docks/ ramps we have in my area, I have found the roller type work much better for my loading style. Have tried floating and cranking up and it takes longer and more...

    Boat to trailer latches

Due to the configuration of our ramps if I stepped over the bow and down steos, I would be in knee deep water. My trailer is a roller type, makes getting off super easy, getting it on is super easy...but...keeping it there while I snap the winch strap can be an issue unless I keep the motor in...

    I HATE AUTOMATIC BILGE PUMPS!

Back in the day ( 60-70's) when we moored our boat, we made friends with the other boat owners around us. Some were retired, some worked nights etc, so someone was around most of the time. We looked out for each others boats, especially if they were setting low in the water. Nothing better...

    Boat to trailer latches

Been reading up on the automatic latches that hold your boat on the trailer while you pull up the ramp. I typically boat alone which means loading and launching alone. I have a system that works well, but at almost 76, always looking for easier methods. 16' aluminum SC boat so nothing big and...

    I HATE AUTOMATIC BILGE PUMPS!

If there is that much debris, perhaps the boat needs cleaned more often...been a boat owner over 60 years and have never had these issues with a bilge pump....don't even know anyone that has...no offense to anyone, just a problem I have never saw before...
