    1998 115 (E115SLECM) VRO leaking fuel

I went and ordered a conversion pump, it was $125 from the local shop I usually get my parts from. They used to be an OMC dealer, good folks, have tons of used parts, so I usually order from them even if I pay a little more. I'm going to pull the old pump, might rebuilt it.. will see. For now...

    1998 115 (E115SLECM) VRO leaking fuel

Just stopped by the local shop I've used for years, they were a Johnson/Evinrude dealer for years now sell Yamaha.. Anyway, owner (mechanic) told me that maybe 50% of the time the VRO kit fixes the leak due to wearing on the housing, not that the parts are substandard. I have nothing to go on...

    1998 115 (E115SLECM) VRO leaking fuel

I'll pull it and order the OEM rebuild kit. I can't complain the thing is 27 years old, not many mechanical items these days last anywhere near that long. It will be a few weeks before I get to it, will report back with results. Thanks for the input and help, great forum!

    1998 115 (E115SLECM) VRO leaking fuel

Boat has sat more than it's been used unfortunately. I see that you can get the OEM fuel side rebuild kits, any experience with these? I'd also thought about rebuilding and then just going to pre-mix. I'm more concerned that the oil portion is next to fail, so am I better off disabling the oil...

    1998 115 Evninrude E115SLECM Testing the Rectifier

I did reconnect everything back up and my tach worked, engine ran didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. But when I went to disconnect the battery the positive side was super hot. I did buy a new rectifier and when doing the tach test above I got 1.7M ohms, vs 10.5K ohms on the original...

    1998 115 Evninrude E115SLECM Testing the Rectifier

Thanks Vic. So here are my results 1. Diode plate check: On the diode scale, going from the red wire to the yellow I get a reading one way. Same with ground to the yellow, although the numbers are not the same from yellow wire to yellow wire (both red wire and from ground) On the ohms...

    1998 115 Evninrude E115SLECM Testing the Rectifier

Right, and I went back and tested it again. From the red lead coming off the regulator and it does block in one direction, then tried it from ground and it blocked in one direction. How about the tach, how do I test the tach lead coming off the regulator?

    1998 115 Evninrude E115SLECM Testing the Rectifier

I'm not getting a tach reading and none of my guages are working. Motor starts and runs, I took my meter, put it on diode test, connected one lead from the MM to yellow wire pins in the connector, other to the red lead coming out of the rectifier. For both yellow leads I got 393 reading on the...

98 Evinrude 115 (E115SLECM) Not going into gear

Thanks, so when you say it should shift easily when it's running are you saying it will be difficult to shift when not running? Sorry just want to make sure I understand. I tried moving it with pliers with the cable disconnected but didn't want to force it and I can't really see the shift...

98 Evinrude 115 (E115SLECM) Not going into gear

The shift cable is not broken, when disconnected from the motor it seems to move normally. Sorry, seems most of my post didn't post.. The boat has been setting for the last 2 years on the lift. Got it prepped to put back on the trailer, backed it out of, and went to put in forward gear and...

Getting no beep when turning the key

I just had the same thing and spent a few days chasing it. If the battery load tests fine, check the voltage drop from the cables just like saltchuck suggested. But that won't rule out the starter. In my case, the voltage drop was double what was expected, tried another cable, and got the same...

98 Evinrude 115 (E115SLECM) Not going into gear

The boat has been setting for the last 2 years on the lift. Got it prepped to put back on the trailer, backed it out off the lift and went to put in forward gear and it's like it's in neutral

2015 Yamaha 150's Over Temp Alarm (both engines)

Little background, both engines have less than 120 hrs on them now. I had the 100 hr service done @ 100 hrs, I do flush the motors after every use. Took the boat to the key's for a week and the 1st day out on the way in I get an over temp alarm on Engine 2, so I immediately shut down both...

    98 Evinrude E115SLECM Eventual Bog @ 5000 RPM

I really had not used the boat for some time, still getting things sorted from Irma.. After Irma I replaced all the lines to the oil tank + new ball, screen, gaskets, new impeller, fuel filters & changed lower gear oil + decarb. Plugs looked OK, might have 75 hrs on them since last set...

    1998 115 (E115SLECM) Tilt Motor Change

My tilt motor actually still works but its really rusted bad. Since I've got the boat on the trailer to do the WP thought i'd do the tilt motor before it goes. I didn't want to pull the motor if I can help it. Was hoping i could get to those rear screw by getting the top pin out of the trim...

98 115 Ocean Pro (E115SLECM) is it running hotter than it should?

When I got this motor it didn't run, thanks to many on hear my family has been enjoying this rig. I replaced the water pump when I initially got the motor, based on the temp guage at idle speed (no wake) it would creep up to just about the 175 (80 celsius) on the gauge and then drop down to...

    2015 Twin 150's - connecting to Garmin

Want to display engine data on the Garmin but unsure on what all I need. There is a bus that has (3) connections for Devices + (2) bus connections. One has a terminator and the other has a connection into the bus (guessing that's power???) I know I'd need a NMEA2000 starter kit to extend the...

    Yamaha 150's? (2015) Few questions.

I'm about to take delivery of a new (to me) boat that has new 150's on it. After I've been looking now I see there has been issues with past 150's with the harmonic balancers.. I had seen that some said newer models they moved away from the nylon gears, that true? Also I notices some...
