    I have a 65 hp outboard and I don't have the controls for it but do have the engine connector with short wires on it.  Looking at the wiring diagram if I put 12 volt DC to the red wire going to the switch box will that give me spark when the engine spins?   Assuming the ignition system is good...

    Test Black Stator

    Mercury 1150 2 cycle, serial number 3111152 with a black stator. Guy told me the motor would not start because the stator was bad. I removed it and tested with an Ohm meter and read 0.5 ohms. I believe this is a reading for a good stator, but would like to know if I am correct or not. Anyone...
