Removed flywheel

I have a Mercury 650 4 cyl, Serial number 3000632. I removed the Flywheel by taking out all the bolts around the center rather than using a flywheel puller and didn't mark it's location. I also removed the Distributor so I have no reference point. Can I put it back on by finding TDC and aligning the timing marks on the flywheel with the marks on the Distributor pulley?

Look at rust / stain marks around holes on flex plate and hub.----They are like a finger print of how it was on there.

It took a while but I think I may have found a pattern. Had to use a magnifying glass but I think I have it. Thanks for the help

Gee that's easy. Put the flywheel on anyway, and turn it until the top cylinder is at top dead center. Now remove the flywheel bolts and turn the flywheel until the arrow on the distributor pully points at the dot (punch mark) on the flywheel face, on the edge of the timing decal.
