    shorter leaf springs

    I have a four leaf spring with a 27" length from eye to eye. Can I use one with 26"? I should be able to move the link plate closer to fit the smaller springs right?

    Motor now sounds different. Why?

    Help me reach my max speed

    I have a 1979 Johnson 35hp @ 5500rpm model #35E79A. I am currently using a 10x13 prop and I was told my gear ratio is 14:27. How do I calculate my max speed? What prop size is best for max speed? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    removing shift rod seal problem

    I am having a hard time removing the shift rod seal on my 1979 35hp Johnson. How do you guys do it? Is there a special tool to get it out and in? Thanks.

    Grind the inner sides of the forward gear?

    Can the forward gear be fixed? There is some damage to the clutch dog so I am going to replace it but the forward gear doesn't look too bad. I was wondering if I grind the sides of the gear where the clutch meet with a dremel. Will this work? I have a 1979 35hp johnson. Thanks. -Hong

    Can't take off bearing carrier!!

    I have a 1979 35hp Johnson and I can't seem to get the bearing carrier off. I am using 2 bolts and a strip of metal with two holes drilled. The metal strip is placed on the end of the prop shaft.     putting a thermometer on a small engine?

    Does anyone know where I can get a digital thermometer that I can use on a 4 hp engine? I would like to mount the thermometer on top of the engine's cover and the the probe wrapped around the motor. This way I can see if the engine is over heating or not. Any help would be great. Thanks.
