    Kill Switch Lanyard

Yep…my 97 has the same setup. Don’t need the lanyard to start the boat

    Been a little cold.

84 yesterday.....nasty, nasty storm came through (tornado warning) right before dark. Lost 4 huge oak trees on our property. A big pine came down on the street in the neighborhood. Main Road was closed with downed trees and power lines until early this morning. It was 62 degrees when I let the...

    Stator issue ( I believe )

Normally the color of the lead would simply reverse the polarity, -60V instead of +60 volts In this case, polarity matters since your only rectifying half the wave cycle to test. Keep black lead on red

    Stator issue ( I believe )

Stator output is AC. A diode in the dva circuit rectifies to DC before charging the capacitor (recording) for peak voltage reading

    Stator issue ( I believe )

B Black is universal color for ground unless it isn’t. A schematic of the circuit will confirm either way.

    Check/Fix/Replace Starter Motor 1996 50hp

Which is why you perform a voltage drop test.

    Check/Fix/Replace Starter Motor 1996 50hp

Bench testing starter performance is useless as a diagnostic tool. Once the windings are proven to be good (growler) the unit must be load (amp) tested to determine condition You either have a bad starter, battery and or battery cable Have you load tested the battery? “New” means nothing...

Just thought I'd share a nice photo.

At the “football” games in Europe, they literally “cage” the spectators (hooligans) with a chain link fence and roof to protect the teams from the crowd

How to kill mold on billge/engine surfaces

We order 55 gallons at a time from a wholesaler, but Home Depot stocks it

How to kill mold on billge/engine surfaces

Exactly why we no longer use bleach (sodium hypochlorite) to clean and disinfect (mold and fungal growth) the water recirculators (chillers) at work. Using 12% hydrogen peroxide does just as good, if not better job than bleach w/o the harmful side effects

    Check/Fix/Replace Starter Motor 1996 50hp

Continuity test only tells you if the motor is shorted to ground. Tells you absolutely nothing about the integrity of the windings themselves.

How to kill mold on billge/engine surfaces

That's pretty low....assuming sodium hypoclorite I use calcium hypocrite at 73% for shock. The Starbrite stuff works wonders cleaning in the bilge.

Old humminbird dial flasher inline fuse specs

Started with flasher. Served its purpose at the time but not ideal for big water hunting due to its limited field of view. Was totally in awe the first time I saw a color machine in action on a charter in the early 80's. Started with an Eagle sounder. Jumped up to a Furuno LCD when I started...

    Getting impatient

Registration and the fishing license for the boat license arrived over the weekend. Upper 60's to mid 70's the next 10 days. Should have boat up and running by this weekend. Gives me two weeks to get her cleaned up and to get the tackle back onboard and organized to met my third week in March...

was thinking of changing over to a Delco EST system from points....

Nothing special about an ignition module. Simply encapsulated high voltage contact relay(s). You just need a contact to trigger the relay for each cylinder. Pertronix make a wild variety of distributor conversion kits for under $200. I upgraded the ignition in my golf cart with GM HEI module...

    When boating, always ___________________

Very surprised they would do that for safety considerations. My boat restarts without for clip for safety reasons. There are a lot of situations where losing power could turn into a disaster. Imagine getting tangle up in your lanyard and it breaks or goes overboard. Now what….as your quickly...
