Looking at an '04 Monterey 190LS w/ 5.0 mercruiser. What's the thought on these boats? I don't see too much mention about this brand. Their website is probably one of the better ones built. Lots of info. The new ones seem really nice.
excellant boat, built buy Brunswick, i believe, same people who build searay, and bayliner, maxium. they are in the upper echelon of their line.
Not true, there are zerk fittings. Probably OK, but not true. The drive bearings are permalubed and don't need to be lubed as well as the spline shaft
It needs an impeller NOW.water pump is working fine.
It needs a drive alignment and the Gimbal bolts torqued. I assume the drive lube has been regularly changed, but really can't tell. Also, needs all of the steering and shift linkage points lubed. Tune up? Plugs? Distributor Cap?Nothing else was needed.
My opinion: It sounds like he has better than average knowledge of what yearly maintenance to do to a boat. I say this because he is at least knowledgeable enough to pull the prop and lube once a year (I bet 90% of boat owners don't do this), add stabilizer each year, and drains the block each and every year despite there being no freeze issues where the boat is stored.
The fact that the boat is used where there are no freeze issues makes me wonder if its used in salt water? If this is the case, I would have wanted to read that he flushed it after each use.
How many hours on this boat?
