First post here, but would like some answers. We took our pontoon out for the first time on Saturday and everything went great until we took it out of the water on the trailer. My wife was walking around when I was getting stuff stowed away and she told me we were losing oil out of the motor. I got out and looked and oil was coming out right below where the cowel goes on out of what appears to be a shield held on with two screws. We got it to where I was taking it and I tried to take off the shield and didn't have the proper tools, so I thought I'd take off the top cowel and found oil in there also, but not sure where it was coming from as it was getting dark and haven't looked at it since. It just makes me sick!!!! I'm wondering if possibly when the marina winterized it and changed the motor oil if possibly it was just maybe a little too full and with the incline of the boat ramp it blew some out?? Anyone have another idea?

Thanks for your help.....Brian

Did you check the oil? How much oil did you lose? Might be a loose oil filter.

Have no idea what you are describing, by cowl do you mean the hood?

Get us a picture.

Yes...the hood and I did check the oil and it was right between add and full. Hopefully they will look at it tomorrow and give me an idea. I never thought about a loose filter.....man that would be a relief if it was just that!!!
