05 4.3MPI Died, paddled back to shore.. a little help here..please

05 Rinker 192 4.3L MPI

Here is the list of events:
Got 12gal gas (at station) prior to launch.
Fish and cruised about 2hrs.
After no wake zone (under bridge) proceed with throtle up to come on plane. about 3500rpm.
Imedeatly after boat planed out, i noticed a loss of power, alarm sounded and motor died..
Constant no start condition with constant alarm..
Oil pressure was 40psi
Temp was normal
Outdrive resivoir was Ok

After a 1hr paddle (on knees at bow) back to shore, i was able to adjust the idle screw to increase the rpms enough to get it to stay running.. just around 1000rpm.. wont run at idle under 1000.

Local service tech says he has an idea whats wrong, but wont offer any info..

Any help greatly appreciated!

Prolly your idle air control valve. Think they are around $100.

1) Would that cause loss of power and trip the alarm at 3500rpm?
2) Where is it located and how can i test it?
