Hey guys I am having a cooling issue with my motor. When I hook up a water hose to the flush connector I can hear the water filling up but it will never come out the "pee" hole. I ran the motor for about 30 seconds and it never came out the pee hole so I shut it off. Can you guys give me so clue as to what to check and what could be clogged. By the way I just now replaced the impeller.

two things possible, one is your not waiting long enough for the block to fill with the water pressure your hose provides or two your pressure control valve is not sealing and dumping the water pressure before the block fills.
running on the on board flush device has been both reccomended and not reccomended over the years by Yamaha.
we do it but we know our water pressure is sufficient and we wont go over an idle and never longer than 5 min or so.
if you try the flush muffs on the gear case use the rectangular muffs and tightly bungee cord them in place due to the curvature of the water inlet and case.
failure to bungee will most likly lead to that new pump failing and an overheat.

Re: 05 yamaha 225 4 stroke

thanks for your reply. I didn't run the motor with the flush hooked up I just had the hose hooked up. I waited for about 10 minutes and nothing came out of the pee hole. I did run the motor for about 30 seconds with the muffs hooked up tightly and nothing came out so I shut her down. Where is the pressure valve you were talking about located? Is there some sort of test I can do to check that valve also? Thanks.

Saw this old thread thought maybe you can give me some insight. Pair of 2005 Yam F200. Did the water pumps on both engines before splashing them. Ran them both in a barrel all good water pissing out the pee hole all good pumps work as they should. Launched boat ran it over to my marina. Again all good motors are pissing as they should. Go to flush engines with fresh water no water coming out of pee hole only water comes out of lower unit eg muffler ect. Other motor is perfect comes out of pee hole while flushing. Pee hole isnt clogged because water coming out. Blew compressed air in weep hole then try flushing nothing. put a shop vac over pee hole and got a dribble of water to come out while flushing. My thoughts are fuel cooler blocked? is there an oil cooler (black rectangular box in rear of engine) I am stumped!
