Hi

I don't have a seacock on the water inlet from the sterndrive. If I try to drain the system while in the water is the system actually low enough to let the sea water in? Since the highest point is when it goes into the heat exchanger which is above the water line.

I know it's clearly not recommended in the manual with a sinking risk :D

If you pull the plug while in the water and have done nothing else, the boat will sink given enough time.

If your doing this to winterize and the boat will remain in the water, then first have a rope or nylon cord available. Remove the suction line going into the seawater pump and pull it up along side the motor. When the hose is removed, water will come gushing in. Many have a short piece of PVC pipe, to insert into the hose and hose clamp in place to bring the end higher. The pipe also is easily seen that the hose is not connected.

1st why are you trying to do this? 2nd if you are just trying to drain the water from your block you will be fine as long as the thermostat housing is above the waterline.

claims to have a HX so the only raw water is the manifolds/riser and the raw side of the HX.
Most people remove there boats from the water for winterizing .
Your winterized with no batteries . dead batteries = no bilge pump= a fish hotel

Hi Thanks for the answers. It's not for winterizing (no winter here). I just felt that draining salt water out of as much as possible would be good since I will have the boat sitting in the water while i'm travelling for 2 months. Since flushing it while in the water without a seacock on the inlet is tricky.
