Thanks for posting. That was fun to watch.
I used to go to the Gold Cup races every year and drag boats when ever I could.

Cool. I remember the thunder of the 7 liter class.
Best boat name at the races was always, Blind crippled and crazy.
Of course Tom D'Eath and Miss Bud were pretty impressive.
The drag boats I watched were more like SS class types running an 1/8 mile. More of an exhibition I guess. These things you're showing are insane. Those are NHRA top fuel type numbers.

yah apparently they are the real deal, and somehow the small town where I live was able to convince them to add our lake to their tour, and from what I hear they really like coming here.

I guess you and I are the only ones that can appreciate it:rolleyes:

Small town, eh! Google; hayward long reach and you'll see where the Gold Cup races used to be held until around 1990. Awesome venue, but no town in sight, just cows.
Drags always intrigued me because it's a technology battle. Most people prefer more driving in their motor sports. In high end drags, the pilot let's er go, shuts her down and deals with anything unexpected in between. I did some electronics work on a 9 second roadster. Everything is more or less programmed in some way.

I was lucky enough to be at Long Beach, Ca. when the first jet boat went over 100 mph and the first fuelie went over 200 mph. They've come a long way baby.

to be honest I didn't even know boats like this existed till 4 years ago when they first ran here. Now im addicted, I could watch you tube videos on this all day, but there is nothing like the real deal.

That is totally awesome. Never knew there was a class of boat racing like this.

I'm going to the Canadian Nitro Nationals this weekend for some 8000HP and 300MPH+ drag racing. Seeing it on video or TV is one thing but there is nothing like being there with the smell of liquefied rubber and feeling your insides turn to jello when they launch off the line 100ft away.
