Hello. I now have a slight problem with my 1.5 hp Johnson (1969 - 1R69C). After replacing most ignition parts I find that I can't get this little beast to turn over. have spark....and have fuel to carburator but not to cylinder. Put a bit of fuel in cylinder and it turned over briefly. Time to rebuild carb or is there a slightly less technical answer to this dilemma

well, first of all, the term " turn over " is used to refer to the motor spinning, as in TURNING.....OVER. if your motor is not locked up, as in stuck, frozen, caught, useless, than it turns over.....

i have a 1970 2.0hp evinrude that WILL NOT TURN OVER, for real. its rusted stuck!!!

Probably that's it. But to be sure, put a little pre-mix in a spray bottle and try spraying it down the carb's throat. If it fires on that, you can be sure the induction system is working properly.
(It's a bit of a small point since there's little to go wrong with it)

Yup....time to clean carb/tank/fuel lines.
Nope, nothing more technical than a carb rebuild kit, carb cleaner, simple tools, a service manual, and the ability to read and follow instructions.
Before you do this, try spraying some premix fuel into carb throat and see if she pops for a second or two. This insures that your ignition work is OK.
Edit: Gees, I just gotta' learn to type faster!
