Re: 10 Pts to Answer 5.7 4100 WOT

Ok, I am currently home.. and I just pulled the outdrive off.. I see nothing that even appears to be for exhaust? or where would the flappers be stuck? It looks like my exhaust comes out at the back of the boat on the lower section of the outdrive mounting plate. ? Did i take this outdrive off for no reason? lol.. Gimble bearing feels good on a lighter note. Do i need to replace gasket?

The exhaust is the bottom oblong outlet on #1, bellhousing. Usually stuck behind rod #23. You should be able to inspect the drive, but not sure if that gurrantees that can't be logged further upstream.

Yes, it needs a new gasket kit which inlcudes new o-rings.

Any water in the u-joint bellows? Should check engine alignment, but you will need the tool for that. Has the impeller been replaced recently? If not, best to do since you have drive off.

When running on muffs, most of the water will come out the exhaust relief ports.

If you don't have record of when previous owner last changed the impeller, might want to do it now. It should be changed every 2-3 years. I use the genuine merc kit, which include housing, carrier seal, etc.

PS: Check u-joints for any slop.

I stuck my vacuum gauge in the fuel line from the Tank.. I removed the anti siphon so it went Carb/water seperator/fuel pump/my gauge.

It gradually pulled 9 in. after revving engine.. ? Weak fuel pump or tested incorrectly?
