That is if you use Redline racing or Amsoil 100:1 Synthetic Outboard oil.
And you will never have to decarb again.

I would not use a 100:1 mix of no ones oil.
I don't care what their sales hype is that oil can't be that good.

Re: 100:1 gas oil mix ( safe for most outboards)If you use the right oil!

Must be Missconception Sunday!

Do "NOT" use any synthetic at 100:1 other than the Amsoil Saber outboard 100:1, manufactured specifically to be used that way. Just because an oil is synthetic doesnt mean it can be used at a ratio other than the manufactures specifications.

Now, I have used the 100:1 oil from Amsoil with great results, but I mixed at about 80:1. I now use the HPI premix and injector oil and would use the HPI if I was premixing at the recommended ratio of 50:1. I see no reason to use the 100:1 oil now that they have a 50:1 oil. Although the 100:1 oil will work as it is advertised to do.

Amsoil is "NOT" TC-W3 certied.

i may be way underinformed about oil, but i cant see myself using 100:1....especially in a two stroke. I dont think a decarb is that hard, or that big of a deal, but more or less standard maintenance. Even though my johnny was rated for 100:1 originally (OMC changed it back to 50:1) i still wouldnt do it regardless of oil type. Call me old fashioned...id rather run too much oil than too little.

Sorry I did forget to put that is has to be The Redline or the Amsol 100:1 NOT just the Amsol or Redline synthetic! I will go back and edit that.

Even then it is a bad idea. Regardless of how well it protects the engine, it does not leave a thick enough film behind to prevent corrosion and lubricate on the next startup.

I will run mine at 100:1 if either one of those companies that claim their product is that good. They will have to put it in writing that they will replace my engine if it fails.
It ain't gonna happen.
I don't care whose oil it is I will not run !00! mix.

I have not seen a failure from it's use. Also they would be forced to change the lable. If it was not so. (Safe to run at 100:1) I knew this would start a battle or raise some eyebrows!

You could sue them if not so.

It's not just going to make your engine immediately blow up...but it will probably increase the wear and shorten it's life - something you could never prove was caused by the 100:1 ratio.

No noticeable increase in wear they mic them after every tear down. On their race motors sometimes that is weekly!

That's not nearly enough time to tell if there is an increase in wear or not. Ask Mercury if they'll cover any damage when you run at 100:1 under warranty - they'll laugh at you.

ZmOZ, That is plenty of time. When they log over 40hrs in a week during testing. No and Mercury or any other company will not warranty any motor that has been modified for racing or any other oil mix other than the factory recommendation.

Tim,
Whoever "they" are, if they're racing, they probably have sponsors to buy whatever parts might be destroyed. I don't.

Even in the old 24:1 Evinrudes?????

I don't belive that 100:1 can lube the bronze bushed motors properly, no matter who makes it or what it's made from.

No sponsors They are Mercury Marine. I changed it from us To they Because I'm not on the payroll. But my best friend is. He is where I found out about this oil he has been employed by Mercury as a Master Marine tech for over 36 years and been on the race team for 22 years.

Most all race teams that I have ask in north America use race oil at around 100:1. I said you could run it at 100:1 safely. You can mix it at anything from 16;1-1??:1 that is up to you. I'm not telling any one that they should mix at 100;1.I would mix at whatever you want or your engine manufacture says to.
