Ok I'll switch, I have been told by a mechanic to run 24 -1 because she's old and it'll last longer and do a decarb more fequently ,if you say use 50:1 i'll take your advise

If you're apprehensive about the mix, just go to a 40:1 mix and it will be fine....

You'll be fine with 50:1. I have a 1972 merc 650, use the +h3ll+ out of it (like at least 6 hours EVERY weekend) and it has been fine on 50:1. I run it aground all the time at wide open all the time, the motor flies up into the air like the propeller is afraid of water. I leave the plug out and try to sink it in what seems like every third time out now. From everything I have read, which is pretty much every single message on here:

- don't run it Lean
- make sure the timing is not too far advanced
- decarb regularly
- change waterpump annually

That's all I know,
