The serial number does not come up in the Bombardier system. Possible the powerhead was a replacement. Either under warranty or by an earlier customer. That may be why it's not what you thought it was.

Is there another way to find out which model or size power head it could be.

Picture of the intake ports !----------These blocks were very common for many years.------High degree of interchangeability.-----Same pistons fit these blocks from 74 to the late 90's

6 small bolts on the side of the cylinder removes the bypass cover.--Measure the intake ports..---Likely will not be able to determine the year as these blocks were very common year to year !--Condition is much mre important.

Hey here's one we haven't tried. What does the motor/cowl look like?

You can start to learn more about your engine by comparing the parts that are on the powerhead with factory parts diagrams. For instance, the head part numbers, recirc system layouts, carb part numbers, exhaust system, power pack, etc-all may be specific to certain model years. If you want to take the time, compare what's on your engine to the factory exploded parts diagrams: epc.brp.com Be sure to check yours vs various hp models, too. When you get mixed components, it does become harder to determine just what you have, but you may be able to determine what is from the original engine and what was changed-usually within a year or two.

The porting was the same on the 140s, 110s, 115s after 1976. Some of the 115s will have the bubbleback. 110s and prop rated 115s will have the BB, while crank rated 115s have the flatback cover.

Correct. And I believe after '83 or 4 the 88/90 had the same porting. Note only the 140 had the exhaust ridge cut-out.

Possible, as the prop rated 90 was fairly close in performance to the crank rated 115

My '86 90 & '92 88 appear to have the same ports as my '78 & '83 140s. I have an '84 115 block that looks the same too. Only one that's much different is a '75 115 block. It has 4 round exhaust ports vs the newer model's 3 elongated ones. Naturally it's the nicest/cleanest one I own but I cain't use it. Sigh.
