raised (tilted) my 08 merc 115 4 stroke today all the way up and pulled lower unit to replace impeller. when I returned from garage with lower unit there was oil all over my drive from the engine. It had leaked out from the engine and onto the tilt and trim, and the mounting plate, then to the ground. (not out of the area where the lower unit attaches) it stopped leaking when I replaced the lower unit. I Lowered the motor, Pulled the cowling and didn't see any oil there. checked the oil and was perfectly full. THOUGHTS OR ADVICE??

Not many folks on these forums are well versed on these new 4 stroke motors.-----Never worked on one myself , nor do I want to.

hmm ok. thx for reply. almost has to be a seal I think, but that would mean theres a seal where the drive shaft goes into the powerhead. and.... I don't understand why if that was true it would leak out of the shaft tube itself, not toward the front of the motor.

Hi! Did you figured out the problem? I had same thing with my 07' Mercury 115 EFI. Could it be that someone have spilled some oil into cowling during the oil change and now the spilled oil founded its way out?

Start a thread of your own. You can't ask the OP to respond when they haven't been here in 6 years.
