I have a 115 4 stroke yr 05 that got into a not so calm beach and spent 3 hours there. I just got it back afer a few days and there does not appear to damage, but don't want to try and start. I will start with rinsing off the salt and probably changing fluids. How can I tell if it is OK to crank up?

Did it get submerged?

It really depends on if water got into it, how much and where.

I agree, change the fluids. Wash it down and flush it with fresh water. Pull the spark plugs and turn it through a few times, enough to pump oil to all bearing surfaces and clear any water from the cylinders..

Then try to start her up. I think the mechanicals will be okay, but what happened to the electricals is a question.

Def change fluids. Main thing I would worry about would be the injectors. change the oil and filter then do like the above post and turn it through a few times, then change oil again. Its worth being extra careful when it comes to water INSIDE the head and all those nooks and crannies.
