Any problem with using Penzoil 10W-30 oil ?

How often should I decarbon the motor, I was told this should still be done even though it is a 4 stroke.

Howdy, Tony.

What oil does your Owner's Manual call for? Pennzoil is good oil, but it should be the weight recommended by the maker.

I don't decarb 4 strokes at all, especially EFI 4 strokes. They don't burn oil, only gasoline.

Good luck. :)

Manual says Merc 4 stroke or a Premium grade 4 cycle engine oil. Not tryin to be cheap but does the Quick silver oil have anything special in it.

My dealer told me to Decarbon but my theory is like yours. It ain't burnin oil mix.

Good runnin motor though I change my oil every 60 hours.

2002 model I have seen your posts. I just changed my oil this weekend didn't see anything unusual as far as what you are describing.

I do however understand your frustration and wish you luck.

Let us know how you make out I would think any amount of water in a crankcase would be death to a 4 stroke motor of any kind.

Were it my motor, I'd go synthetic right after break-in (IMHO). But while the motor is still under warranty, it's "wisest" to use their brand of oil. If problems arise, they can't blame somebody else's oil and deny your claim. ;)
