Coils are good so it's probably the powerpack. Next step would be replace it.

c/6

Hooty

tlflash
I've had good luck with ignition aftermarket replacement parts from seilermarine.com Their service is very good. Use their part request form and they will reply quite quickly. I have a 1974 85HP V4 that's very similar to yours.

The pack itself is very easy to install, like a 10 minute job from inside the boat with motor tilted up, just don't drop anything  :D

Hope this helps.

Hey tl....I think ya' did what have to do to tell if the pack is bad. Good thinkin' on your part. That just told you that the power coil under the flywheel is good and the timer base also under the flywheel are good. The OEM pack will set ya' back in the neigborhood of $120. After markets would be a few dollars cheaper.

Good Luck...and get the service manual. Iboats carry the generic type. Search for Ken Cook Co. for a reprint of the original.
