I just bought a boat w/ a 78' Johnson 115hp outboard. My first couple of times out went fine. Now it starts, idles and runs at low speeds just fine. When I give it full throttle I get no response, just the same slow speed, no engine rev., no sputter just slow speed. Ive checked the plugs, put on new throttle cables, sprayed the carbs w/ cleaner - no change. Any ideas???

thanks, bill bill@widomaker.com

Hi, Bill.

Is the throttle opening the butterflies 100%?

Is the throttle advancing the timing plate all of the way?

Let us know. :)

you also may want to check the fuel pump diaphram
for cracks also the coil may not be able to get the kv up high enough!
STILL FISHING!

Booda,

You said you put new cables on. When did your problems start?

With the cowl off, you should be able to see things happening when you shift from nuetral to a gear and then advance the throttle.

On cable will move the gear shift and the other will move the throttle linkage. Make sure this is happening.
