I don't have an answer to the question, but I am wondering why anyone would think the reed valves would cause stalling after a minute in the water.

I think I would be investigating the ignition system since your fuel system will be basically overhauled once you're replaced the lines and all.

-dd-

Terry If you haven't already, check for a clogged filter on the fuel pickup, also check for water in the tank. Make sure the tank is properly vented. Good luck.

79'. Did you do the carb work recently? If this work were done last year and the engine not layed up properly for the winter, fuel in the carbs would easily gel inside the jets, causing the problems you mentioned.

are you interrested in a bolt on replacement? Ihave a 79 powerhead complete with wiring, ready to bolt up, runs excellent. I replaced it with a newer motor with self contained trim/tilt. Will make great deal and ship to your address.
