Recently I had a problem with my trim not working. It sounded like the trim motor was cycling but no engine movement at all.
After extensive investigation I unwillingly trailored the boat into a trusted marina.
They found a broken drive shaft between trim motor and pump. The component cost was only $16 but over $250 for labor to remove the Engine.
QUESTION:
Are these 1990 115 ELPT Engines prone to trim problems?
Last year I replaced the trim motor, this year the drive shaft - what's next?......trim unit? Are there some overall design concerns with this application?
If anyone has similar experiences please reply.
