can anyone help with the year of this,,115 oil inj,serial 8197312 or the 8 maybe a B thanks.

It is likely a B. Go to maxrules.com and look up the model. The serial number may be obvious...

went there along with several other sites,no luck,,,according to some,,,a 115 should not be in the 8 at all and the b are late yrs but not oil inj,,,anyone else?

OK, Pretend your serial number starts with a B19... On the Maxrules site, this translates to an '87 115ELPTO motor. Does your motor have 6 cylinders, a 20 in chaft lenght and oil injection? That serial num also translates to a 1987 25" shaft, oil injected, 6 cylinder, 115HP motor...

thanks chris but no such number anywhere on that site,,,not sure what your looking at but not mine,,,,can anyone over here with real info help with this serial number,,,may not be a made in usa deal to,,,,,thanks in advance.

That's a great motor.

Should look very similar to that attached.
