115 Vent Issue

After running for a while the primer bulb sucks together and the engine dies. When I fill the tanks up fuel spits out of both (2 tanks) vent lines and there is no visable kinks or collapse in any of the lines. When I disconnect the primer bulb, pump it and place my thumb over the suction side it fairly quickly expands. I would figure it would stay sucked in for a while given a good seal.

Do I have a bad primer bulb? If so what brand to get to replace it? If not, what is causing this?

Re: 115 Vent Issue

it may be a bad check valve in the bulb. if you replace it buy a yamaha bulb. they tend to last about 10 times longer than the after market ones. its also possible you have a clogged anti-siphon valve or a clogged draw tube. a simple vacum gauge test can find the restriction quickly.

Re: 115 Vent Issue

The primer bulb is OMC and I doubt it is over 1.5 years old. Can it be cleaned out somehow? Compressed air, solvent etc.??
