I got a blue band 70's 6 cyl 115 engine. I rebulit the carbs, put new wires and plugs on, I checked the compression (125 on all cyl) and verified that it is sucking air through the carbs while cranking. I replaced the coil since the factory one was weak. Now i get great spark. I checked the reed valves and they are all springy. I have tried choking the engine until gas comes out of the carbs, sprayed a gas mix into the carbs and nothing is getting this thing to run. I had it running about 2 weeks ago after about an hr of tinkering. THe only way i get any response out of the engine is if i take out each plug and squirt gas in the cyl then put the plugs back in an hit the starter. The engine will run for a second or 2 but not stay running. Im pulling my hair out on this pyle and id like to go fishing one of these days. Anything Im missing here?

If it runs when you spray gas into the cylinders, but dies when that is burned up, I would think your carbs have severly clogged fuel jets.

the carbs where just rebuilt, it wouldnt run if u spay gas through the carbs into the reeds either, this takes the carbs out of play

OK, Then the problem becomes more unique. Reeds are pretty rugged, and don't often fail. Look for air leaks around the crankcase cover, but these too are unlikely. How about leaks in the transfer cover gaskets? That could cause a lean mixture in the cylinder.

Are the idle needles set to 1-1/2 turns out from lightly seated?

ive tried all differnt mixture configurations with no luck, if the seal was bad wouldnt it atleast try to fire over? Im going to have to find a manual on this engine, anyone know where there is one free online? or are all paperback copies?

When you rebuilt the carbs, did you soak them for a day in carb cleaner and then blow them out with compressed air?
