i have a 1999 bayliner 1804 fish and ski that i lost the key to. i pulled the old switch out replaced it with a separate sierra 6 prong ignition switch but nothing happened.. gauges didn't work, nothing. im just wondering if i had the right switch. Also the tilt/trim stopped working ever since i took the old switch out. its been working flawlessly since i bought the boat. im just wondering what is going on with this thing. Ive checked all fuses. the batteries are good. I NEED HELP!!

Take the old switch to any Mercury dealer.
They usually have keys for all the Mercury controls.'Then go and put it back in.
Also sometimes when the wires get unhooked, they cross and blow the fuses on the motor and under the dash.

First of all, IF your dealer wanted to work with you they could have found you a key--there is only a limited number of combinations and SOME switches will have numbers on them.

You should have the Mercury control with the switch in the box and tilt/trim in the handle. Control cable and buzzer are all inside the control box and trim should pick up power someplace in there.

Assuming you wired the switch correctly, check the yellow fuse on the electronics mounting plate of the engine.

Okay, I did that. But still nothing. All the fuses under the dash are still good. Radio works, bilge pump live well pump works, trolling motor and lights work. Just no power to the tilt trim or to the gauges. Is there a fuse I'm missing? Maybe one on the engine itself? It's an outboard force 120.

READ MY POST AGAIN! There is a yellow ATO fuse on the engine electronics board. It supplies power to the switch. Check that one.
