120 HP jazz jet stalls at full throttle

I just purchased a 1996 Bayliner Jazz 120hp, the boat runs fine at low speeds in the water, but when I give it full throttle (4000 rpm+)the bow comes up and just when the boat comes on plane it stalls out. No sputter no missing just dead. It starts up just fine and continues to run as long as I don't throttle it up. Previous owner had the voltage regulator replaced. I filled up the gas tank and it still stalls when going on plane. Any ideas?? Thanks for any help I can get, I'm a newbie jet boat owner, long time sailboat guy.

check the fiberglass prop ring its probably worn a deep groove in it.

Go down to Force/Chrysler outboards and look at the first sticky by Frank Acampora.The 120 sportjet is a Force powerhead.You should drain the fuel tank and replace with fresh fuel.Replace fuel filter with clear see thru filter.Make sure yellow carb vent tubes are clean.Remove carb bowls and clean.I would replace fuel pump.Replace spark plugs and check compression.Let us know what you find. These boats dont have outboards they have jet ski motors

brim buster. The jazz boat has a 120 hp Force powerhead mounted on a Mercury pump and they do not have a fiberglass prop ring.They have an aluminum wear ring with a stainless impeller.

they actually have a slightly modified powerhead from a force outboard If I remember correctly the intake manifold was slightly different in any event check the fuel lines for pieces of trash caught in them blocking off the fuel as well as the tank for garbage or water in it.

My bad I must of been thinking of another boat. sorry for posting wrong info and I thought the wear ring was fiberglass or nylon. Didnt know they made a stainless one. Again Im sorry. I should stick to posting info on stuff I know more about..:grumpy:

Hey guys thanks for all your help. The marina I had it at kept it for over a week and "just didn't have the time" to look at it so i took it back. I pulled the fuel pump filter and removed this from inside (not the bobby pin that's there for scale). Any thought on what it could be? I'm taking it out tomorrow to see if that fixed the problem.

My guess would be that that the fuel lines are breaking down.

With a boat that old do yourself a favor and replace all the fuel lines and what I said back on the 5th.Cheap insurance.
