It is a 1999 Force 120hp ELPT, Serial number OE367682

Boat turns over great but will not start...will not even try to start, spit, sputter, nothing...just turns over. Best I can tell, I am not getting fire at any of the cylinders. Kill switch is not thrown and I have toggled it back and forth several times.

What next?

Try disabling the Kill Switch circuit at the engine by disconnecting the Black/Yellow wire at the bullet connector by the CDM coil packs. If ignition spark returns, then you have a short to ground somewhere in your engine Kill Switch wiring. If the engine starts, turning the ignition switch to stop the motor will no longer work. To stop the motor, just engage the choke to flood the motor to stall it out. If disconnecting the Black/Yellow wire makes no difference, then check the stator.

Check the stator winding resistance. Disconnect the Green/White and White/Greem wires that come out from under the flywheel. Measure the resistance between the two wires. You should see between 500 - 700 OHMs resistance.

No change when unplugging the black/yellow wires.

Resistance measured 698-699

Can you verify that you are or are not getting any spark at all to the plugs? Pull a plug wire off and stick a well insulated screw driver into the plug wire boot and hold the shaft of the screw driver close to the spark plug end or the engine block and see if you see any spark when cranking the motor over. If no spark, check the following.

1. See if any of the 6 magnets that are epoxied to the inner circumference of the flywheel are missing or loose or broken. You have to look up underneath the flywheel to see them.

2. Unplug the 4 wire modular plug that goes to each of the CDM coil packs one at a time and crank the motor to check for spark. Do this for each CDM. If spark returns after unplugging one of the CDM's, then that CDM may be bad preventing the other CDM's from firing.

After doing all the above suggestions, someone on another site suggested I had to disconnect the two wires at the kill switch, and touch them together and try to crank the boat.

I pulled the control box loose to get to the backside of the kill switch and noticed a bare end...long story short, ProGator simply twisted the ends together and taped them together and one had came loose. A butt connector later, a bump of the key and the motor was running!

Well there you go! That was a relatively easy fix. Happy boating!
