I inherited a 120 hp force and I found the threaded end of the shift shaft broken off. It looks like a major project to replace the shaft. Does anyone have any ideas on how to replace it?

Are you talking about the threaded end of the shaft that goes inside the gear case?

The connector in the drive.
Still have the broken piece in the connector?
If so then the cover needs to be removed and the piece removed from the connector.
Pics of the cover and pieces will help.

It is the end of the shaft that is in the engine compartment and attaches to the arm that goes to the shift cable. The shaft runs out side of the driveshaft housing and inside of the lower shock mount
