Re: 125 force help

Seems to me I had this problem when my stator went bad although this is also symptomatic of a bad starter. If you don't have one, get yourself a force service manual. It has all of the tests to help you determine where the problem is.

new battery and new cables. Solenoid pulls in and starter spins but not it does not spin fast enough or long enough to start engine? Would that be accurate?

my first check would be battery and starter connections inside engine. They are easy to overlook but can cause above problem. There are four of them including positive to relay, negative to engine block, and relay to starter. If all good then an auto electric place can rebuild your starter for about $35.

describe the problem in more detail. it shouldn't take that many rpm's to kick-off if compression, spark, and fuel are good. saying that it "doesn't spin fast enough" is too vague.

could be stuck rings causing low compression. could be last year's gas plugging up jets, could be choke not working, could be timing shaft sticking and spark at wrong time, could be old starter, could be , could be, could be.

a more detailed blow by blow description of events, actions, and results might narrow the list down.

crank spins freely by hand. The starter doesnt even spin fast enough to kick Motor completes 2 revolutions at a very slow spin and then disingages identical to the way it would spin if the battery was dead.

Re: 125 force help

swap starters between engines. if problem follows starter, then take them both to an autoelectric shop. they will rebuild both starters for about 1/2 of what the marine store will charge you for just one. It just a bosch. The only special about it from boat store is the humidity resistant glue they use on the marine price tag.

Re: 125 force help
