Re: 13 ft water boat to ???

Some work done over the weekend, not as much as I wanted to do cause I had to work all weekend, but used the little time I had to keep on glassing.

This is the first stringer I?m making

And here is a pic of the new section of the boat...

Next I will get started on glassing the whole boat, still have a little grinding work left before I start that

Another one ready.
I?m only making them 1 layer thick (with the thickest chopped strand mat I have got), It?s just to get the form, them I?m gonna trim the sides to the right length. After that I?m going to make a grid that I will make strong with few more layers and then I?m gonna put the grid in the boat, glass the sides with 3 layers and that should do it...

Re: 13 ft water boat to ???

reason for this wide stringers is that I?m gonna put 5/7 mm diamond aluminum plates on top of them with some rubber mats between them.
The only wood I will be using in the boat is on the transom

Since my last post I moved and the garage in my new house is build in the house and my bedroom is above the garage so I have nor been able to do any work on the boat. But I finally found a cheap garage to rent so my little project is back on. I will start renting in in the end of nov. Cant wait to get back working on it

@woodonglass :
now they are about 2 mm. But after I trim them I will make them thicker.

This is how I´m going to do it.(you are looking through the transom) After I trim the red parts I´ll glass few layers inside them and then 2-3 layers on the outside so it should be strong enough.
This drawing is not in scale, it just shows the way I will be doing it. the silver gray line is the aluminum.

Any thoughts, tips or concerns?

For this application, the stringer walls, IMHO, need to be at least 6mm thick. What kind of glass will you be using to overlay the existing stringers? What kind of resin are you planning to use?

Well, I have been cut it like the last pic I posted. There are no stringers in the boat now cause I had to cut them out but I will be using 600 gr (2.0 oz) chopped strands for the whole thing. And I have and will be using the Hydrex resin from Reichhold.
