Hi Guys,

Going to buy a prop for my 40hp yamaha, has a 13 spline. My Q, are there interchangeable with other same hp different manufacturer ? I'm still new to the outboards.

Re: 13 splines prop

To some degree.
The things that can be different are # of splines, shaft diameter, shaft length, prop diameter and pitch.
Within a given manufacturer this can change over the years for the same hp too. Conversely, they will use the same lower unit on a "family" of motors making the parts interchangeable.
Dunno what you have in mind, but my best advice to you would be to purchase a propeller intended for your motor. It could very well be that a Mercury prop might fit on your Yammie, but at least check first.
What year is your motor and what type of boat is it on?
The crew will start pulling good suggestions out the wazoo with part numbers for you.

Look at the Prop Finder here in the Iboats store,It tells you what type and brands are made to fit your motor. Its a place to start anyway.

Spacer meaning the thrust washer? The prop should slide up on the shaft as far as the original and rest against the washer with about the same clearance from the gear case as the old prop.

Glad it worked out.
40 hp on a 12' tunnel outta scoot pretty good.
...love to see a pic.
I'm contemplating building a small tunnel hull 13'-15'.

Don't overlook the fit between the hub of the prop and the lower unit housing. Although many props may slide on just fine, an overly large gap between the prop and the housing allows too much exhaust to flow around the prop which can cause performance issues.
